I can not believe this is a new issue it has to be a one of a kind
prototype put away long ago. I can guarantee you that Pat Laird would
have had one in his collection if it was an issue. I can also promise
you that Lou Carter would have had one as well. Two years ago I bought a
Lodge 35 s issue that was obviously made by the company doing the F3
issue as the patches are identical except for mine is fully embroidered.
I would not begin to try and claim it is an undiscovered issued I am
sure it is a prototype ordered by someone with in the lodge to see what
it would look like or to propose to the boys simply changing to a fully
embroidered flap.

Thanks for the post. It will be interesting to see if more surface, and if so how many. Right now, I'd catalog as a prototype until we know more. Irv Block may have been a member then. Roger Sch. came in shortly there after. Conley's never mentioned seeing one.

Thanks,
Tracy

(I just realized the words "of these" were unclear. Two or three GENUINE 1962 3-A patches have recently gone for $150-200. As far as I know, the fake I saw is the first fake that has been listed, and has received no bids at a $5 starting price.)

And another new faker , patch--world (two hyphens in the middle), working out of Germany.

Not a lot of Boy Scout items yet. My eye was caught by item 120243932828, a fake cut-edge computer-made version of the 1962 Area 3-A Conference patch. (Two or three of these have gone for $150-200 each in the last month or so.)

Although not in this league (dollar wise) I am happy to see fine rare items command the respect of such a price. Question: how is such a piece authenticated? If it is a rare new find, not previously recorded, 14+K is a lot of trust. In addition, I do hope it was a clean auction. Anything else just tarnishes this great hobby and deters future collectors from finding the joy that we have found.

I'm curious what constitutes bidding that "looks like shill bidding"? There were three bidders above $3900. The #2 bidder bid once, and his 30-day bidding history looks like a normal Scout patch bidder.

The #3 bidder did bid MANY times--although some folks do that, just trying to chip away and win an auction by the narrowest possible margin. #3's 30-day bidding history has the suspicious-looking notation that 56% of the bids have been with the seller of the Aheka N/C, BUT that 56% includes the 17 bids on the Aheka. So if that one item is dropped, #3 only bid once (in 15 bids on 14 items) on another item from the Aheka seller.
