2005 Annual Report- Highlights

At the recent Annual Meeting of the Boy Scouts of America held in Washington, DC, delegates received the Annual Report for 2005.

* 309 local councils provided programs to more than 4.5 million youth members and participants through over 1.2 million volunteer leaders.

* 43,000 Scouts attended the 2005 National Scout Jamboree help in Caroline County, Virginia.

* 49,895 young men attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the second highest annual count ever
Scouts contributed more than 1.5 million hours of volunteer service in more than 19,000 service projects

William F. Cronk elected as new President

William F. Cronk of California was elected to a two year term as President of the Boy Scouts of America. Cronk, a lifelong scouter has served in leadership positions at the local council, regional and national level. Mr. Cronk recently served as National Commissioner. In that capacity he focused on the health of Scout units. The Pack, Troop, Crew and Post are at the heart of how Scouting delivers the program to millions of youth members.

Mr. Cronk recently retired and CEO of Dryers Ice Cream.
