Several councils, Central Florida has a whole set, put small electronics on the back of the patches. Below is one from Burlington County Council, NJ with a flashing eye (see patch centers as the new trend):

Central Florida added music generators.

Conquistador has JCPs with UFO’s and flashing lights. It will be interesting going through air port security for some.

I traded for a set of the Central Florida “Guitar” JSP’s yesterday. Seemed like a good idea until I realized the slightest touch would set them off. Now they’re just annoying. We were having a debate at the TOR yesterday about finding a way to ship them without freaking out the Mailman.

My Scouts loved the Central Florida guitar series JSPs, but only one of them actually was able to trade for any of them. He showed them around the troop site and we all liked the music. Nifty idea, but I’m not sure you can store them in a patch page without pressing the button that sets them off. Time will tell. Also, it will be difficult to change the battery without ruining the back of the patch. Still, the kids love them!
